Forts in India


India is a land of Forts. The main reason behind this is that the country had been ruled by many dynestry, and all the Kings believe in royal living. So they constructed majestic forts which are now the history bearer and amazingly spotted in the country. People domestic as well as foreign tourists take the fort and palaces tour of India which give us the view of the colourful Indian past. In India the maximum number of forts are in the state Rajasthan, where we can witness the Rajputana and Mughal architecture. The major forts in India are -
The major forts of Delhi are lal Qila or Red fort, Purana Qila, Salimgarh fort, Tughlaqabad fort. Red Fort was built during the reign of Shah Jahan - a mute witness of many wars, conspiracy, victory. The fort display the rich Mughal architecture. The most significant aspect of the fort is that every year on the 15th of August, the National Flag of India is hoisted at the Red Fort by the Prime Minister of India to celebrate the India's independence.
Purana Qila – The history of Purana Qila lies back in the age of Mahabhata. Later it was built by Humayun. It is an wonderful work of art and a an excellent picnic spot.
The Agra fort of Agra is another important forts in India. It is the centre of Indian politics. This fort has witnessed many decisive moments of Indian history. And it is one of the grandest example of Mughul architecture.
Speaking to the forts of Rajasthan, there are many but the famous are -
Amer Fort in Jaipur- The costruction of the fort is started by Raja Man Singh. The splendor of the fort is still felt by the elephant ride on the way to the fort. The architecture of the majestic fort is indescribable. Other superb forts of Rajasthan are Golden Forts of Jaisalmer, Nimrana Fort, Junagarh Fort Mehrangarh. ChittorGarh, Nahargarh fort, Taragarh fort, Neemrana fort, and Ranthambore fort.
Other famous forts of India are - Gwalior fort , Gulbarga fort and Vijayanagar Fort of Karnataka and some more.
The splendor and majesty of the Indian Forts can not not felt just by mere description. These should be visited to feel the historic era.
